SCD’s line of Mother Cultures include three, powerful, probiotic formulas:

These beneficial microbial cultures are powerful odor eaters, soil builders, and probiotic supplements. All SCD Mother Cultures are produced using the highest quality seeds, proprietary formulas and culturing process.
The basis of all mother cultures is EM technology, a natural, probiotic formula which utilizes beneficial and effective microorganisms to repopulate environments with healthy bacteria.
The microbes in SCD EM are non-harmful, non-pathogenic, not-genetically-engineered or modified (non-GMO), and not-chemically synthesized.
The basic groups of microorganisms in EM are lactic acid bacteria (commonly found in yogurt, cheeses), yeast (bread, beer), and phototrophic bacteria ("cousins" of blue-green algae).
SCD Mother Cultures are produced through a natural fermentation process and can be used “as is” (diluted with water) or “activated” to generate larger volumes of concentrated product. The activation process is a 10-14 day fermentation process requiring space, water, molasses and an optional heat source. Through the activation process, one gallon of Mother Culture can yield up to 22 gallons of usable and effective product! The activated, secondary product is most effective if used within 30 days.
SCD Efficient Microbes (EM) Original™ is the original EM formula manufactured by SCD. SCD EM Original™ is best used for industrial applications, particularly in agriculture, where there is the capability to activate the product on an ongoing basis. For others not equipped to activate, SCD offers a line of ready-to-use products for clients interested in convenience and ease of use.
SCD EM Food Grade™ is a specially formulated food-grade, probiotic mother culture safe for human and animal consumption. SCD EM Food Grade™ introduces beneficial and effective micro-organisms which work to repopulate the body or living system with healthy bacteria. SCD EM Food Grade™ can be used as a feed additive for animals and as a safe cleaner or sanitizer for livestock production areas. SCD EM Food Grade™ is produced in a food grade facility under food grade conditions. This facility has been assessed by NSF International and found to be in compliance with GMP Requirements for Dietary Supplements. This assessment recognizes the high degree of quality control processes consistently employed by SCD manufacturing.
